Who’s heard us talk about the “Professional Cuddle”? Or should we now be asking… who hasn’t? 😆 

If you’ve worked with us before, you’ve probably heard the phrase, and you’ll know we mean it.

The idea came from a conversation with Alicia Lechtenberger (pictured with Jack below) a contractor we worked with in the US. She told us she’d never felt so integrated into a team before, even as an external supplier. 

We joked about it at the time… but “the professional cuddle” stuck, and it’s at the heart of how we work.

We were so pleased to hear discussions happening at @bauma.official this year about sustainable construction. But naturally it left us wondering, what about sustainable construction of events? 🤔 

Here are our 2 cents...

🚗 Travel 
Transport is a huge contributor to the event industry's significant carbon footprint. Across the build, event days and break, hundreds or thousands of journeys are made to attend or work at these locations, making incentivising eco-friendly transport so important. 

We regularly get positive feedback about how much we use (where possible) members of the team who live closer to events, or have genuine local knowledge which enhances our delivery and also reduces our carbon footprint for staff travel. 

We also love when events choose to run reward schemes or discounts for attendees or employees who travel by public transport, and should ensure a viable public transport option is available. 

🔋 Digitialisation 
With so many exciting tech innovations in the event sector, the opportunity to minimise printing and waste is huge. 

Electric signage, event apps to replace physical maps or leaflets, and digital badging solutions could all be part of a plan to improve the sustainability of an event. 

🚮 Plastic Reduction 
We've all left an event or tradeshow with a tote bag bursting with freebie plastic swag we never end up using. 

In the interest of minimising unnecessary plastic usage, exhibitors can get creative with their stand display and offerings to attendees - discounts, digital giveaways or smaller eco friendly gifts.

They're great ways to draw in engaged attendees without offering them yet another branded biro...
